1. India climbs up in innovation ranking

- India climbed 15 spots, from 81 last year, to 66 in the Global Innovation Index (GII) and maintained the top spot in the Central and South Asia regions
-GII: Released by Cornell University, INSEAD and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)
-India: Scored high on tertiary education and R&D, the quality of its universities and scientific publications, its market sophistication
-Ranks first in the world in information and communication technology service exports
-Ranks second on innovation quality among middle-income economies, overtaking Brazil.

2. Joao Havelange (Brazilian lawyer), who as president transformed FIFA into a multi billion-dollar business has died at age of 100.

4. BIHAR today became the second state in India (First ASSAM)and the first Opposition-ruled state to ratify the Constitution (122nd Amendment) Bill, 2014 enabling implementation of Goods and Services Tax.
