- Statutory body and not a constitutional body.
-Multi member body consisting of chairperson , vice chairperson and six members.
-Chairperson and members hold office for 3 years.
-Members can be removed by central government.
-Under Ministry of Minority affairs.
6 minorities - Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism, Parsis (Zoroastrians), Muslims and Christians.
