1. Jharkhand becomes first state to implement DBT in Kerosene. Under the DBTK scheme, PDS kerosene will be sold at non-subsidised price and the subsidy will be directly transferred to consumers directly into their bank accounts.
2. Nobel Prize for Physics for 2016 has been divided, one half awarded to David J. Thouless, the other half jointly to F. Duncan M. Haldane and J. Michael Kosterlitz "for theoretical discoveries of topological phase transitions and topological phases of matter. Last year’s physics Prize was awarded to Takaaki Kajita and Arthur B. MacDonald for their work with neutrinos.
3. Subsidised liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders will now be available only to those with Aadhaar. Those who do not have the unique identity number will be required to enrol for these in order to continue availing the subsidy. This will be applicable after November 2016.

10. Visiting Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong reviewed the India-Singapore strategic partnership and highlighted his country’s commitment to fight terrorism. Singaporean teams reviewed the strategic partnership between two sides and signed three MoUs on cooperation in the field of industrial property, cooperation on the establishment of a North East Skills Centre in Guwahati and cooperation in skills development between Singapore’s Institute of Technical Education and the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC)
