1. India has been ranked 39 in Global competitiveness index out of 138 Nations Last year 55, Topped by Switzerland.

Global Competitiveness Report (GCR)  is a yearly report published by the World Economic Forum. The report "assesses the ability of countries to provide high levels of prosperity to their citizens. This in turn depends on how productively a country uses available resources.

2. Pakistan gets isolated as four SAARC member countries decide to boycott the SAARC Summit Started with India, Nepal, Afghanistan and Bhutan also pulls out of SAARC 2016 which is going to be held in Islamabad Nov 2016

3. Union Cabinet approves ratification of the Paris Agreement on climate change;
the country will submit its instrument of ratification to the United Nations secretary-general Ban ki moon on October 2 -- the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Also approves Productivity Linked Bonus to railway employees.


4. Supreme Court slams BCCI for non-compliance of Lodha Panels recommendations on replacement of its top brass with Cricket administrators.

anniversary. 28 September 2016 observed the 109th birth anniversary of revolutionary socialist

9. BRICS Labour and Employment Ministerial meeting held under BRICS India presidency, 2016 concludes in New Delhi.


10. South Korean Jim Yong Kim has been re-appointed as President of World Bank for a second five-year term beginning 1 July 2017. He is the 12th President of the World Bank and for first time was appointed in 2012.


11. Union Government has given its approval to change the name of Gurgaon to ‘Gurugram’. With this both the city as well as the district of Gurgaon would be known as GuruGRAM.


12. India will review the Most Favoured Nation (MFN) status given to Pakistan at a meeting called by Prime Minister Narendra Modi



13. The Indira Gandhi International Airport has become Asia-Pacific’s only and one of the world’s few airports to achieve a “carbon neutral” status. Less than 25 airports in the world, with most of them located in Europe, have earned carbon neutral status
